If you found yourself at Holland Park this August, basking in the glow of Movies Under the Stars, you probably caught a serious case of pink fever during the Barbie movie screening. With the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association (BIA) putting on this annual event, it’s a must-attend for families and film buffs alike. This year’s screening of Barbie had everything you could ask for: high energy, martial arts demonstrations, and—best of all—Ken’s fabulously confusing existential crisis. Honestly, has a man ever struggled so deeply with patriarchy while still rocking a perfectly coordinated outfit?

    Pre-Movie Festivities and Community Fun

Under the soft glow of the Surrey skyline, the sounds of laughter, sizzling smokies, and martial arts demonstrations filled the air, creating the ultimate summer night backdrop. The festivities kicked off at 6 PM, with plenty of live performances and activities to keep everyone entertained before the main event. And while the free popcorn stayed home this year, savvy moviegoers came prepared with their own treats. BYO-popcorn is clearly the new trend, but those who forgot to pack their snacks were in luck—the North Surrey Lions Club was grilling up hot dogs, veggie dogs, smokies, and chips for a good cause.

Supporting the Community at Movies Under the Stars

This event wasn’t just about the fun, though. The Surrey Food Bank was on-site, offering valuable information about their programs and services, reminding us that Movies Under the Stars is as much about supporting the community as it is about enjoying a summer flick.

A Night of Barbie Magic Under Surrey’s Stars

Like Barbie stepping into the real world, Movies Under the Stars brings us all together in the heart of Surrey, reminding us that even under a starlit sky, the real magic happens when community and fun collide. Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets filled the park as everyone settled in to enjoy the movie.

    Barbie Takes Over Holland Park

The crowd was abuzz with excitement, and when Barbie hit the screen, it was like the park itself turned a shade of pink. From her hot-pink Corvette to Ken’s unforgettable one-liners, it was an evening that had everyone laughing, gasping, and possibly reconsidering their life’s existential meaning—Ken-style.

Looking Forward to Next Year’s Movies Under the Stars

As the credits rolled and blankets were packed away, one thing was clear—Movies Under the Stars isn’t just a summer event, it’s a summer tradition. Surrey might be known for its parks, but when Movies Under the Stars rolls into Holland Park, it feels like the heart of the city is coming together for a shared cinematic adventure.

Missed this year’s pink-tastic event? Don’t fret—Movies Under the Stars will be back next August, ready to serve up more films, fun, and opportunities to create magical summer memories. Pack your snacks, grab your coziest blanket, and get ready for another season of outdoor movie magic. Until next time, Barbie fans!
